Andrzej Wojtczak Andrzej Wojtczak was born on the 3rd of April, 1950 in the Polish town of Kutno. Coming from a working class family like most wood carvers, Andrzej went to school to become a metalworker. He has been carving sculptures since 1975, in the begining from metal and then he turned to wood. In 1984, Andrzej changed his proffesion from metalworking to sculpting. In 1983 he received a recognition from the Minister of Culture and Art. In this same year Andrzej was accepted into the Establishment of Folk Artists in Lublin. His carvings are displayed in the museums of the following cities: Warsaw, Torun, Kutno, Lodz, Cracow, Plock, and Poznan. His pieces are also in the hands of private collectors in the United States, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and Poland. Since 1975, Andrzej has competed in over 58 contests. The majority of the contests were for nativity scenes and general art, he placed between 1st and 3rd in almost all of the contests. |
