Boleslaw Parasion Boleslaw Parasion was born on the 9th of December, 1950 in the county of Lubelska, Poland. Boleslaw is one of four brothers. In 1958 their family moved to Cycow where he was able to finish his basic schooling. Like many other kids his age, Boleslaw wished to become a great wood carver. He began carving different figures and animals to get practice. His parents, however, were not satisfied with his training in the fine arts so he completed a technical degree. This is when his carving and painting became his past time. Boleslaw then became a teacher but shortly after he was married he became a farmer and continues in that profession to the present. In 1980 Boleslaw began to sell his carvings, from this point it was no longer just a hobby. In 1985 he was accepted as a member of the Founding Folk Art Association. From that time Boleslaw began to compete in competitions and sell his art all over. Some of his accomplishments include first and third place in national nativity scene contests in 1996 and 1998. Boleslaw's religious folk art carvings have a brightness about them like no others. The paint brings out the life in each and every piece that he creates. Some of his most astonishing pieces include "The 7 Days of Creation", which depict the creation on 7 separate reliefs, and his triptych nativity scenes. |
