Wladyslaw Rogolski was born in the rural Polish town of Mladowa on the 16th of October, 1941. He now lives about two hours outside of Gdansk. He is married and has 3 daughters and one son. He currently works as the fire department chief. In his spare time he carves sculptures from linden wood. His workshop is a small one room barn in his backyard. He has only one knife and one chisel and a small AM radio hanging on the wall. He has been carving since 1980 and since then has competed in many contests organized by different museums.

Wladyslaw has competed in, and won, several prizes in contests in the following towns: Szczecin, Gdynia, Koszalin, and Slupsk. Wladyslaw has carved for private collectors in several different countries.
